Egerton University and ICRISAT have been engaged in improving production and productivty enhancement of dryland crops mainly sorghum, millets, groundnuts and greengrams in six counties dryland counties in Kenya which include Tharaka Nithi, Makueni, Kitui, Siaya, Busia and Elgeyo Marakwet, through funding support from USAID Feed the Future-FtF, Accelerated Value Chain Development (AVCD).
Egerton University, Kenya, in partnership with the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) and Gulu University in Uganda, through the support from MasterCard Foundation, is implementing a Program titled “Transforming African Agricultural Universities to meaningfully contribute to Africa’s Growth and Development (TAGDev)”.
AgriSCALE is a joint project for building higher education capacity in Sub-Saharan Africa in the fields of bioeconomy and agriculture. Through curricula reforms, education will be more student-centred with real-life field challenges with companies and societal actors. The project is funded by the Erasmus+ programme.
Course objective: To equip participants on the theoretical and practical aspects of livestock feed production, feed processing, feed formulation and quality control. It will enable practitioners formulate feeds which meet the supply of all the nutrients required by farm animals.
