Egerton University buzzed with activity on 24th August as the 2023 batch of first-year students stepped onto Campus. Fresh from high school, these newcomers experienced the University's vibrant environment firsthand. Both Faculty and continuing student volunteers were on hand to warmly welcome them.
For these students, this transition signifies a new chapter as they embark on a distinct academic journey. The shift from high school to university marks a change in educational level and a step towards greater independence and personal growth. Parents and guardians watched with pride and anticipation as their children embraced this transformative experience.
Supporting this transition were staff members from various departments such as Finance, ICT, Medical, Halls, the Office of the Dean of Students, and all Faculties. Their presence ensured a smooth registration and accommodation process, setting the stage for an uninterrupted start to the academic year.
The University's commitment to accessibility was evident through the Transport Department's efforts in providing hassle-free commuting from the Main Gate to various Faculties. Meanwhile, the early registration period, from 16th to 23rd August, allowed students to familiarize themselves with the student portal and the required documents.
The reporting window for all first-year students—covering Diplomas, Bachelors, and postgraduates, is from 24th to 31st August. Orientation is scheduled to take place from 4th to 8th September. From 11th to 22nd September the first years will be allowed to explore interfaculty/programme transfers.
Continuing students will begin reporting from 1st September, with classes commencing on 4th September, signalling the start of the 2023/2024 academic year. However, students pursuing Law, Engineering, and postgraduate studies had an early start, with lectures beginning on 21st August.
