A new team of student leaders has been elected to steer the affairs of the Egerton University Students Association (EUSA) following the conclusion of the 2026 Students Governing Council (SGC) elections at Egerton University.The results released by the EUSA Electoral Commission show Teddy Omondi Odhiambo elected as Chairperson alongside Jane Wanjiru Kamau as Vice-Chairperson after securing 24 votes out of 33 ballots cast. The pair defeated the team of Musita Godrick and Peter Joyce Mutheu, who garnered 9 votes in the closely watched race.

In the contest for Secretary General, Sena Ruret Sammy emerged victorious with 17 votes from a four-candidate field. Letuya Lemale Esho finished second with 9 votes, while Harri Rovanpera and Brian Mayaka received 5 and 1 vote respectively.The position of Director of Welfare was won by Dennis Ochola Odondi, who secured 14 votes. He was followed by Juma Gerald Wanyonyi with 8 votes, Shadrack Robi with 7 votes, and Caleb Keengwe Nyangau with 4 votes.Meanwhile, Oeso Derrick Nyambane clinched another leadership slot after obtaining 15 votes, defeating Nyongesa Wanjala Emmanuel who received 10 votes and Nderitu James Mwangi with 8 votes.

The elections were conducted under the supervision of the EUSA Electoral Commission using the Smartkura digital voting system, which enabled accredited student delegates to cast their ballots electronically. A total of 33 valid voters participated in most of the races, marking the conclusion of the student leadership transition process.The newly elected leaders are expected to assume office and begin implementing their agenda aimed at strengthening student representation, welfare, and governance within the university community.
