The Egerton University President’s Award Unit held a formal handing-over ceremony to mark a leadership transition. The event brought together members, patrons and university representatives.
Outgoing officials formally transferred responsibilities to the incoming team, symbolizing continuity, service and growth of the Award programme.
The outgoing Chairperson Caleb Amani said the leadership prioritized structured Award activities. He noted that the team successfully implemented the Residential Project, Practice Journey and Adventurous Journey.
"The activities enabled participants to progress and complete their respective Award levels. The programmes focused on experiential learning, teamwork and leadership development," said Amani.
The outgoing leadership also strengthened operational coordination, coordinated activities and improved member engagement.
The team included Online Record Book Manager Mohamed Tsuma, Organizing Secretary Laban Kipkoech and Treasurer Sandra Robi. Others were Secretary Faith Ndung’u, Training Manager Abdullahi Agisa, Recruitment Manager Virginiah Kamau and Social Media Manager Purity Maina.
Inter-university collaboration was another milestone. Exchange programmes were organized with Kabarak University and the University of Eldoret President’s Award units.
The partnerships promoted peer learning and networking. Members gained exposure to different service and leadership models. The exchanges strengthened the Award community.

Membership growth increased during the academic year, through active recruitment drives. More students joined the Award programme.
Visibility of the Award resulted in increased participation and improved activity turnout, strengthening peer mentorship.
Members participated in major Egerton University, Institutional and national events. These included the Compass Project Awarding Ceremony at Northlands, Ruiru.
Notably, PA participants also attended Gold Award Presentations at State House, where Vice Chancellor Prof Isaac Kibwage attended with the students to receive the awards.
The unit further took part in a Book Launch and Awarding Ceremony at the Egerton Pavilion Grounds. The engagements elevated awareness of the programme.
The outgoing leadership credited the support of patrons CPA Anne Wangeci and James Thuita. They said the patrons provided guidance during planning and execution of activities. The leaders also acknowledged Vice Chancellor Isaac Kibwage for financial support.
The vice chancellor supported the Residential Project held Oct. 1–5 at Kampi ya Moto Primary School. He also funded the Adventurous Journey conducted Feb. 25 to March 2 in Taita Taveta.
"The support enabled participants to complete Award levels. It also facilitated recognition and awarding of members," said CPA Anne, the Patron.
Incoming Chairperson Mohamed Tsuma outlined the new leadership vision. He said the team will strengthen participation and support members throughout their Award journey. He emphasized mentorship and structured programme delivery.

The incoming team includes Online Record Book Manager Abdullahi Agisa, Organising Secretary Daniel Sonkoi and Treasurer Delphine Kimathi. Others are Secretary Newton Mwangi, Training Manager Emmanuel Bulili and Recruitment Manager Charles Okelo.
The new leadership aims to increase participation and guide members to complete Award levels. The team also plans to support more participants to attain the highest recognition.
Leaders said the goal is to produce graduates who are academically qualified, socially responsible and prepared for real-world challenges.
