Vice Chancellor Prof. Kibwage today with University senior Management members held fruitful discussions with the EACC team for partnership and to maintain strategic linkages aimed at strengthening integrity measures and cordial working relations.
The Anti-Corruption Agency team also held lengthy discussions with senior University management team led by Deputy Vice chancellor for Academic Affairs Prof Benard Aduda and student Governing Council with their President John Mutuma.
The meeting focused on collaborative initiatives, joint training programs, and awareness campaigns by students to promote transparency and uphold academic excellence
Professor Kibwage assured EACC team that the university valued transparency and integrity
and expressed his readiness to support anti-corruption efforts, emphasizing that integrity was the foundation of academic excellence and societal progress.
He said that Egerton will work with the Agency to explore partnership opportunities for promoting integrity and combating corruption within the University community.
Prof Kibwage emphasized on the need to inculcate an integrity culture among the students while at the University to prepare their moral uprightness for future life.
Prof Aduda thanked EACC for picking Egerton as a partner on integrity expressing confidence that the collaboration will positively impact the university’s reputation in upholding high standards of integrity.
He said students needed to be taught and nurtured on integrity while at the University to avoid the vice of exams cheating and certificates forgery that will land them into trouble at the job market.
Led by the Commission Vice Chairperson Dr Monica Muiru the EACC team had come to establish a formal partnership framework with the university and to educate staff and students about Integrity. The Vice Chair said EACC coordinates the Kenya Leadership Integrity Forum ( KLIF) to fight corruption by the public and private sectors.
The commission will be hosting the International Anti-corruption Day 2025 under the theme” Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: shaping Tomorrows Integrity”.
In preparation for the Anti-Corruption Day, a build up activities have been lined up such as creating a public awareness campaigns named ” Campus Edition” and Egerton University has been identified as a platform to engage with the University Students and its leaders in an interactive session on 20th November 225 at Njoro Campus.
