Egerton University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Isaac Kibwage today at main campus Njoro, received delegation from the Jiangsu Province Agricultural Department in China who paid him a courtesy visit. Led by Mr. Zhu, Deputy Director of Agricultural Development Programs from Jiangsu Province, the delegation was received warmly by Prof. kibwage and university senior management staff.
The visit aimed to strengthen bilateral ties, explore collaborative research opportunities, and promote knowledge exchange between Jiangsu’s agricultural sector and Egerton University’s renowned agricultural sciences programs and research projects.
During the meeting, Mr. Zhu expressed appreciation for the university’s collaboration with Nanjing University in China and now exteneded to them especially in areas of research and innovation that Egerton is known for. He highlighted the importance of sharing agricultural expertise, technological innovations, fruitful collaboration with Egerton University demonstrated also by the university hosting Conficious Institute.
Prof. kibwage welcomed the delegation emphasizing Egerton University’s commitment to productive collaboration that has existing between the University and the China Government through Nanjing University. The Vice Chancellor said there was a binding trust for the long potential collaboration with Nanjing University that has now brought on board Jiangsu Province, particularly to look into areas of joint research projects, student exchanges, and capacity-building initiatives for academic staff. The visit concluded with a tour of Egerton University’s agricultural research facilities, including the Agro science Park and laboratory units, where the delegation observed ongoing projects and discussed future opportunities for partnership. This courtesy visit marks another step forward in Egerton University’s efforts to build strategic international relationships that benefit both institution and contribute to sustainable agricultural programming in teaching and research.
