Dr. Flora Nekesa Fedha has been re-elected unopposed as Dean of the Faculty of Education and Community Development Studies (FEDCOS) at Egerton University. The unopposed victory is widely seen as a strong endorsement of her performance, signaling the confidence that faculty members and students place in her leadership, vision, and service delivery.
During her first term, Dr. Fedha championed several academic, professional, and community-focused initiatives. In January 2024, she led the launch of the University’s Pedagogy Training program for academic staff, designed to strengthen teaching methodologies, improve course delivery, and enrich the student learning experience. The training not only enhanced teaching quality within her faculty but also benefitted academic staff across the university.
She has also prioritized student mentorship and welfare. In late 2024, the faculty hosted an Advisory and Mentorship talk for first-year students, where she emphasized the importance of professionalism, purpose, and belonging as key pillars of academic success.
Her efforts have been credited with fostering a more supportive and empowering environment for learners.
On the international stage, Dr. Fedha has raised Egerton University’s visibility through active participation in global education forums. Notably, she served as a session distiller at the 2025 Education Evidence for Action (EE4A) conference, where she helped synthesize and shape policy discussions on teacher education and training across Africa.
Her involvement in such platforms highlights her role in linking local innovation with global best practices.
As she begins her second term, colleagues and students alike expect continuity in her transformative agenda,further strengthening research, teaching, and outreach.
The re-election of Dr. Fedha is not only a personal achievement but also represents a vote of trust in her ability to steer the faculty toward greater academic excellence and international recognition.
