Egerton University was acknowledged for its contributions to public service innovation during the Africa Public Service Day celebrations, where it received a Judges' Commendation. The recognition was part of an event characterized by cultural performances and a focus on honoring institutions demonstrating a strong commitment to advancing public welfare.
The Principal Secretary for Public Service, Dr. Jane Kere Imbunya, visited the Egerton University stand during the Africa Public Service Day celebrations. She was warmly welcomed by the Director of Marketing and Resource Mobilization, along with Ms. Beth Arungo, Secretary in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor. The Egerton team was present to showcase the University’s commitment to public service through impactful innovations, community outreach, and research-based solutions. Dr. Imbunya expressed excitement at the innovations on display and commended the University for its dedication to national development
The commendation was officially presented by Dr. Jane Kere Imbunya, Principal Secretary for Public Service, with the support of Dr. Raymond Omollo, PhD, CBS, Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration, and Mr. Eliud Owalo, Deputy Chief of Staff in the Executive Office of the President.
Representing the University, Prof. Nzula Kitaka (Director of Marketing and Resource Mobilization), Dr. Justine Omwoyo (Lecturer in Computer Science), and Ms. Beth Arungo (from the Vice-Chancellor’s Office) presented several innovations in the fields of healthcare, legal aid, and agriculture. These initiatives underscored Egerton University’s dedication to community empowerment and transformation through applied research and development.
