University Librarian Commends Staff Dedication Amidst Challenges
On February 12, 2024 fifty University Library members of staff gathered at the Library’s Resource Centre for a pivotal meeting that was chaired by the University Librarian Mrs.Janegrace Kinyanjui.
The momentous assembly was the 16th General Library Staff Meeting aimed at reviewing the department’s key service achievements and challenges, and to foster a collaborative environment for discussion and strategic planning.
The University Librarian in her communication speech lauded the staff for their unwavering commitment to serve the Library and the University while noting their resilience in the face of numerous challenges over the recent years.
She observed that, despite the challenges, the Library team’s dedication towards service never wavered as evidenced by their significant contribution to key University events like the recent “Cassava Cook Festival” and the “National Tree Planting Day” where they turned up in large numbers.
The Library Department head further noted that it was important for the library staff to regularly update their personal profiles on the University Website as it goes a long way in enhancing the University’s standing in the Webometrics ranking for Universities as well as staff visibility. Further, she informed the staff about the new University Statutes (2023) available on the University Website, and urged them to familiarise themselves with the statutes.
In conclusion, the librarian extended her gratitude towards the library community for embracing and exercising solidarity and generosity for each other during both challenging and celebration moments. “Exhibiting unity and love for each other not only fosters teamwork but also serves as a source of inspiration and motivation in our professional and personal lives”, she said.
