SUMMARY

Dr. Otieno is currently a Principal Technologist in Horticulture (Department Crops, Horticulture and Soils), Egerton University, Njoro Campus. He holds PhD in Horticulture (Olericulture) with bias in Organic Crop Production (2021), MSc in Horticultural Organic Crop Protection (2014), and BSc. in Horticulture from Egerton University (2007). He has B TEC Advance Diploma in Scientific Instrumentation and Management of Scientific Laboratories from the UK (1995), Higher National Diploma and Ordinary Diploma in Applied Biology at Kenya Polytechnic in 1989 and 1991 respectively. Dr. Otieno trained in Israel on Fresh produce Postharvest Technology, Physiology and Pathology in 2016. He has undergone through Webinar training on Project management. Dr. Otieno visited the Netherlands, on horticulture and Greenhouse production technology exposure and capacity building for reviewing Horticultural curriculum in Kenyan Universities and Colleges (June, 2022). Currently, Dr. Otieno is in charge Income Generation Unit (IGU) in Horticulture, in the Department of Crops, Horticulture and Soil and the Chair of the University Procurement Evaluation Committee. He is involved in Farmers’ training and consultancy in Agriculture, training Farmers both in the University premise and farmers field on outreach mission. He participates in Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) exhibition. Currently, Dr. Otieno is a consultant agriculture specialist, working with Agric. investors from Europe, USA, Dubai and the Pacific. In addition, Dr. Otieno works in partnership with researchers from Univerity of Ontario (Newzealand) and  University of Massechuset (USA) in developing Artificial Inteligence Agric. Knowledge Hub to support Agri.Tech and Agri. Smart, providing best technology and best solution for climate smart agriculture in Africa, under UNDP.
