SUMMARY

Mr. Atolo is a Technologist in the Department of Veterinary Surgery, Theriogenology and Medicine, in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine And Surgery of Egerton university. He holds a B.Sc. in Environmental Health (Kenyatta university-2023). He also holds a diploma in Animal Health (Egerton university-2006) and a several certificates in Computer Operations (KIM-2008), BTEC- poultry production (Groen horst- Barneveld &EEIR), Bovine Artificial Insemination (FVMS, Egerton university-2018), Simplified Artificial Insemination In Goats (COELIB-Egerton university-2018) and several short trainings in varied areas like; Managing Competence Based Education And Training, Value Chain Development And Farm Biosecurity And One Health.
Mr. Atolo currently holds the position of Technologist II and attached to the medicine department where he is responsible for the organization and conduct of student practical in areas of herd health, ambulatory clinics, medicine rotations, case presentations, research presentations and artificial inseminations. He has served for a period of eight years in this position gaining experience in sample collection and management, team building, communication skills, on farm disease control and management and applied skills in livestock management.
He doubles up as the team lead/ coordinator for the artificial insemination short course that is domiciled within the department, a position he has held for five years enabling more than two hundred technicians get trained and gain skills in insemination from Egerton university.

Roles include; Preparation of practical classes, ensuring the availability of practical equipment, supplies, animals and other requirements, ambulatory and herd health activities, keeping records of clinical cases and samples, managing the departmental equipment and drug store inventory and assisting in student projects and research activities
2011- 2015: Trainer (livestock production) & Short courses manager – Baraka Agricultural College, Department of Education and Training. Roles include training course participants in animal health and production related to sustainable agriculture, managing clinical cases on the college farm (livestock units), training of students in livestock courses,
Coordinating activities that relate to the delivery of short courses, Coordinating the college external exhibition activities.
2010-2011: Animal Health Technician (private practice)- Masinde Muliro University of science and Technology. University Farm. Roles included monitoring of disease prevalence in livestock section, diagnosis and treatment of clinical cases, preparation of treatment records, provision of technical advice on the selection of the breeding stock and design of livestock units, assisting annual valuation exercise of the farm animals
