Egerton University and A.I.C. Cheptebo Rural Development Centre (CRDC) are exploring areas of collaboration aimed at strengthening sustainable agriculture, agribusiness, research, innovation and community empowerment. This includes fostering Value chains in the Baringo County and Elgeyo-Marakwet County regions.
Egerton University is positioning itself to play a leading role in Artificial Intelligence (AI) research, education and innovation following a workshop to re-imagine a proposed Multi-Institutional Transdisciplinary PhD Programme in Artificial Intelligence.The workshop brought together scholars, administrators, postgraduate students and other key stakeholders from across the University to examine how Egerton can contribute to and benefit from the proposed doctoral programme under the Alliance for African Partnership (AAP).
More than 120 farmers from Kenya’s drylands gathered at the ICRISAT Kiboko Research Station in Makueni County to help shape the next generation of climate-resilient finger millet varieties during a Farmer Participatory Variety Selection (PVS) field day under the Biodiversity for Opportunities, Livelihoods and Development (BOLD) Project.
The event brought together 128 farmers, including 96 women and 32 men, alongside researchers, breeders, development partners and agricultural experts, highlighting the central role farmers play in developing crop varieties that respond to local needs, farmer preferences and the realities of a changing climate.
