Egerton University was honored to host Prof. Caleb Nindo from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Center of Excellence for Global Food Security and Defense (CEGFSD) during his courtesy call. The visit, aimed at exploring potential collaboration between the two institutions, marks a significant step towards enhancing global food security.
Prof. Nindo was received by Prof. Bernard Aduda, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics, Research & Extension), on behalf of the Vice Chancellor. Prof. Richard Mulwa, acting Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration, Finance & Planning), was also present at the meeting. The initial discussions focused on the broad areas of potential collaboration, including research partnerships, student and staff exchanges, and joint projects.
Following the formal reception, Prof. Nindo held a detailed discussion with Prof. George Owuor, Director of CESAAM, and Prof. Mary Omwamba, Chairperson of the Department of Dairy, Food Science, and Technology. These talks delved into specific areas where the institutions could collaborate, particularly in enhancing food security and agricultural innovation.
Accompanied by Prof. Joshua Ogendo, Principal of Nakuru City Campus College and his contact person at Egerton University, Prof. Nindo's visit is seen as the beginning of a promising partnership. This collaboration aims to leverage the strengths of both universities to address critical challenges in global food security.
