Egerton University Vice Chancellor Prof. Isaac. O. Kibwage has received the visiting Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU) delegation led by Vice President Prof. FENG Shuyi, at the Chancellors Chambers Main Campus – Njoro.
She was received by Prof. Kibwage accompanied by the Kenyan team comprising of; the DVC- Academic Affairs Prof. Bernard Aduda, Registrar Academics- Prof. Mwanarusi Saidi, Director- Research and Extension Prof. George Owuor and Director- Egerton University Confucius Institute Prof. Arnold Opiyo held discussions with the team on issues touching on students and staff exchange programme, joint research projects and scholarships.

The NAU Vice President Prof. Shuyi and her delegation expressed great interest in expanding the 30 years collaboration into having more collaborative projects with Egerton University that address global challenges in agriculture, food security, Dairy Technology, Physical education, creative and performing arts and sustainable development including areas of mutual strength and strategic importance.
Prof. Kibwage highlighted Egerton University’s commitment to fostering international partnerships that promote knowledge sharing, innovation, and capacity building. He emphasized the university’s dedication to providing scholarships and exchange opportunities for students and staff, which would facilitate cross-cultural learning and collaborative research.

Professor Kibwage highlighted Egerton University’s strategic focus on internationalization and partnerships that enrich learning experiences and research outputs. He emphasized the university’s openness to forge mutually beneficial collaborations with Universiti4sw like NAU that promote knowledge exchange, capacity building, and technology.
“One of the most notable achievements is the longstanding collaboration with Nanjing Agricultural University in China, which has significantly contributed to both institutions' growth and global reputation. We look forward to building lasting relationships that will benefit our students, staff, and the wider community,” said Professor Kibwage.

Over the decades, the partnership has yielded numerous tangible outcomes, exemplifying a commitment to advancing research, innovation, and mutual development which became the beginning of a Transformative Partnership.
Today, the collaboration is evident through joint Research Projects, establishment of Confucius Institute in 2013, Agro-science park in 2014, China-Kenya science joint Laboratory in 2016, Poverty Reduction Demonstration Villages, Student and Faculty Exchange Programs where students and faculty members have benefited from exchange visits, gaining invaluable skills, insights, and cross-cultural understanding.
0n technology transfer, capacity building, Workshops, training sessions, and joint conferences have strengthened institutional capabilities and fostered a culture of innovation and the same modern agricultural technologies, have benefited local farmers and contributing to Kenya’s food security.
The dedication of both parties on this partnership since 1995 has seen the collaboration continues to thrive, inspiring new generations of researchers and students committed to sustainable development and innovation.
On her part, Vice President Prof. Shuyi, thanked Prof. Kibwage for the warm hospitality and for taking the time to meet with them to engage and explore ways of working together.
She said their main goal was to strengthen collaboration between the two Universities. “We believe that through partnership, we can achieve meaningful outcomes in the future. While we have already made some progress through small, short-term initiatives, we are eager to expand these efforts into more impactful, long-term collaborations,” she said.
The vice president concluded by inviting Egerton University faculty members and representatives from international institutions, including China, to engage with students through both online and in-person sessions.
