In a historic moment for Baringo South Constituency, Egerton University, and the Chemeron community, Hon. Charles Kamuren joined Egerton University Vice Chancellor Prof. Isaac Kibwage to celebrate the first-ever graduation ceremony at Chemeron Campus. The event marked a major milestone in the region’s pursuit of accessible higher education and community empowerment.
Addressing the jubilant graduates, families, and university staff, Hon. Kamuren emphasized the significance of the occasion, describing it as the beginning of a new chapter of hope, progress, and opportunity. He opined that it is a new dawn as the young men and women of Baringo south sought new paths of getting livelihoods, and shunning the retrogressive cattle rustling habits that pit the communities in the region in running battles.

"Today is undoubtedly a historic moment for Baringo South Constituency, Egerton University, and the entire Chemeron community," he stated. "Seeing the men and women who were fully funded through the NG-CDF Baringo South Constituency rise, persevere, and achieve their dreams fills me with immense pride."
He commended Egerton University for its unwavering support and dedication in nurturing the young campus, noting that the institution’s presence has brought higher education closer to the people and created a legacy that will benefit generations to come.
Hon. Kamuren also underscored his commitment to education and youth empowerment by presenting a cheque worth KSh 4.6 million to support 92 students for the next intake at Chemeron Campus. Additionally, KSh 4.4 million was allocated to assist today's graduates in enrolling for diploma programs, enabling them to continue their academic journey.
"To the graduates, congratulations! You are the pioneers of this great institution, and your success today will inspire many more to follow. May your journey ahead be bright, purposeful, and impactful," Hon. Kamuren encouraged.
The graduation ceremony not only celebrated academic achievement but also reinforced the strong partnership between Baringo South leadership and Egerton University. It was a clear demonstration of how strategic collaboration and targeted investment in education can transform communities and open up opportunities for young people.
