Egerton University Honour the Life and Legacy of Prof. Catherine Kitetu


NAKURU, KENYA — The Egerton University fraternity yesterday joined family and friends at AGC Lake View in Nakuru for the memorial service of the late Prof. Catherine Kitetu.
The service, held on Monday, 20th July 2026, from 10:00 a.m., drew a large delegation of staff and academic peers gathered to pay their final respects.
On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics, Research, and Extension) delivered the institution's official tribute. The university leadership conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, noting that her passing is a profound loss to the entire community.
Prof. Kitetu was celebrated as a pillar of academic excellence. Her career at Egerton University was defined by unwavering dedication, distinguished service, and invaluable contributions that leave a lasting legacy. Speakers highlighted her immense impact across key areas:

Kitetu was further eulogised as a dedicated mentor who guided and inspired the next generation of scholars.

The university prayed that the family finds comfort during this difficult period, stating that her impact securely lives on in the many lives she touched.
