Egerton University capped a successful outing at the 2026 Nakuru National Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Show after winning top honours across several competitive categories, underscoring its leadership in research, innovation, education, and climate-smart agriculture.
The achievements were highlighted during a visit to the University's exhibition stand by Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture Sen. Mutahi Kagwe, who was accompanied by Principal Secretary for Agriculture Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh, former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, and Nakuru County Deputy Governor Dr. David Kones. The delegation was received by Vice Chancellor Prof. Isaac Kibwage.

During the tour, the Cabinet Secretary interacted with researchers, innovators, and students as they showcased technologies designed to address food security, climate resilience, environmental sustainability, and agricultural productivity.
Among the innovations demonstrated were a multi-storey soilless aquaponics system that maximizes food production in limited spaces, a solar-powered soilless aquaponics unit that uses renewable energy to recycle water, tissue culture technology for rapid production of quality seedlings, and the Egerloo ecological sanitation system, which separates solid and liquid waste for conversion into organic fertilizer.

The delegation also met Enock Osoro Omayio, the innovator behind the Cheza Hesabu Mathematics platform. He explained how the digital learning solution simplifies mathematics through interactive and engaging teaching methods, making the subject more enjoyable and accessible for learners.
Speaking after touring selected exhibition stands, Sen. Mutahi Kagwe lauded exhibitors for embracing this year's ASK Show theme, "Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth." He singled out Egerton University for translating research into practical innovations that support sustainable agriculture and national development.
Prof. Kibwage thanked the Cabinet Secretary and the visiting delegation for their support and reaffirmed the University's commitment to producing research and innovations that respond to Kenya's agricultural, environmental, and socio-economic needs.
