Egerton University Participates in the Draft National Communication Policy Adoption Workshop

 The  National Government  through the ministry of Information Communication and Digital Economy is coming up with a comprehensive  National Communication Policy  to strength  communication standards  across the public sector. Today  workshop held at Machakos County,  drew government officials, communication  experts from Public Universities, and stakeholders from various sectors.

Key highlights  in the Draft Policy include Digital Communication platforms and Institutional Messaging, Governance and Accountability in Institutional Communication, Mapping Institutional communication structures, Integration of Communication policy into Institutional Planning, Policies alignment and Emerging Media Trends and  Legal Frameworks.

The workshop underscored the government's commitment to fostering transparent, consistent, and effective communication channels within public Institutions. Speaking at the opening ceremony, the lead Expert Nasongo Simiyu  emphasized the importance of unified communication strategies in enhancing public trust and service delivery.

“The National Communication Policy is designed to streamline how public  Institutions communicate with the public and each other. Adopting this policy will ensure clarity, accountability, and efficiency across all our institutions,” he stated.

Throughout the day, participants engaged in practical sessions on integrating digital communication tools, managing public relations, and safeguarding information integrity. Experts highlighted best practices and shared success stories from institutions that have working Communication Policies like the Kenya Forest Service ( KFS),  Muranga Technical  Training Institute among others.
